Hamptons Whodunit is an annual mystery and TRUE crime festival inspired by A BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE
We founded the festival in 2023 in East Hampton Village to create exciting and affordable programming for the year-round community, to bring people to the Village in the off-season, and to honor our rich history.
OUR MISSION
Hamptons Whodunit is a festival for the residents of East Hampton, and not a festival that merely takes place in East Hampton
Hamptons Whodunit is committed to the year-round East Hampton community. It is our priority to bring compelling programming that is widely accessible by keeping our ticket prices low.
We are also committed to supporting local restaurants, hotels, inns and stores by bringing people to town who need somewhere to stay and places to eat, long before the summer season kicks in.
We work in partnership with our nonprofit neighbors, East Hampton Library, St. Luke’s, and the East Hampton Historical Society, as well as our Village book store, BookHampton.
Since our founding in 2023, a critical part of our mission has been education and our collaboration with East Hampton High School.

Hugh King is an unparalleled expert in centuries of East Hampton’s mysterious true crime history with countless stories to tell.
He hosts a free Graveyard Tour each Friday and Saturday in April’s Hamptons Whodunit to tell the story of Goody Garlick, a woman accused of witchcraft in 1658, decades before the infamous witches of Salem.
We introduce middle and high school students to potential careers in various fields including law enforcement, forensic art, justice and the legal field.
